(Boursier.com) — While waiting for electric, Ferrari continues its offensive in the combustion engine sports car. Ahead of the Miami F1 grand prix, the Italian manufacturer unveiled the 12Cilindri, its first new model of the year. The two-seater, sold for nearly 400,000 euros, will also be available in a Spider convertible version at a price of 435,000 euros. Both vehicles are inspired by historic Ferrari grand tourer (GT) models from the 1950s and 1960s, the company said.

The latest model from the prancing horse brand is equipped with a 12-cylinder engine developing 819 horsepower. Deliveries will begin by the end of this year, and the convertible will hit the roads in early 2025. A company spokesperson declined to tell ‘Bloomberg’ how many vehicles will be manufactured.

While this new vehicle range demonstrates Ferrari’s continued commitment to combustion engines, CEO Benedetto Vigna has begun to lead the way towards electrification. The Maranello-based automaker is building a factory to make hybrid and electric cars that will be ready next month and plans to unveil its first fully electric vehicle in the fourth quarter of 2025.

So far, despite high inflation and a complicated context for the automobile sector, Ferrari has managed to do well by increasing its prices while its wealthy buyers are less hard hit by the current environment.
