FF7 Rebirth is already making a huge mistake, fans are fed up

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth recently revealed a first demo, which offers to discover chapter 1; But fans noticed this annoying error, which was already in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

There are only a few days left before the release of FF7 Rebirth! Square Enix prepared for its arrival with great fanfare thanks to the demo, presented at the beginning of the month. For those who missed the boat, there is still time to catch up on the experience. You just need to have at least 48.64 GB on your SSD. This version allows you to discover the entire chapter 1 which corresponds to the flashback of Nibelheim, the native village of Cloud Strife and Tifa Lockhart. Once this part is completed, players will have the possibility to keep their save in the complete software, which arrives on February 28 on PS5.

FF7 makes a mistake that caused a lot of noise

You will have understood, the fans are ecstatic and are already trying to recover as many materials as possible, which serve as skills, but also all the possible chests. However, players have already noticed an annoying flaw: the yellow paint. In the software, it is spread everywhere and serves as a guide to navigate. If it is found on a wall, it is a sign that Cloud can cling to it to climb. The problem is that it’s almost too flashy and it ruins the immersion. Many also believe that FF7 Rebirth mistakes its players for people incapable of noticing points of interest otherwise.

This is not the first time that the video game industry has done this. When Resident Evil 4 Remake was released, Capcom had already used this yellow paint popularized by a certain Uncharted. It was then used to indicate the scales and which crates could be broken by Léon. At the time, creative director Damion Schubert defended himself on attention to the defects of the simulation.

In Resident Evil 4, this declaration did not prevent modders from deactivating the marks on their side. Coming back to FF7 Rebirth, many artists responded to the debate. “For some (myself included), yellow paint makes you feel like you’re no longer discovering things yourself, you’re just following the signs, which removes the feeling of experimentation”declares artist Freya Holmer on the social network X, which even illustrates what it would look like without these famous benchmarks. This artistic direction is disturbing, but at least it will surely help many players in terms of accessibility.

If yellow paint leaves a bitter taste for many players. We hope that the adventure proposed by Square Enix will make up for the problem. The FF7 Rebirth demo will soon offer a new chapter. From February 21, one week before the final release, it will be updated with the Junon region. However, this time it will be impossible to transfer the save into the full title.
