FF7 Remake will be a trilogy, Square Enix is already talking about the sequel

No more room for doubt we now know how many games will include FF7 Remake. It will therefore be a trilogy and good news, the third opus is already in development.

The conference around the 25e Final Fantasy 7’s anniversary did not disappoint. Between the announcement of the Crisis Core Reunion remaster and that of FF7 Remake 2 aka Rebirth, Square Enix spoiled its fans. More interestingly, the publisher even allowed himself to talk about the sequel.

An FF7 Remake trilogy

FF7 Rebirth will therefore be the second game in the remake trilogy. Its name and its trailer are rather evocative, so it will no longer be a question of following the events of the original game to the letter but of proposing a new story. Each game is therefore developed in parallel, and Square Enix has announced that FF7 Remake 3 is already in development. His title, however, will be revealed later.

As revealed during the stream, there are four Final Fantasy 7 projects being developed in parallel (editor’s note: one of them is the mobile game Ever Crisis). Although each of these four titles plays a different role, they will all be connected through their highly qualitative portrayal of the world and characters of FF7. By being involved in the development of each of the original projects, I understand the vision and thinking behind each of them. I am actively involved in the development of each of these four games.

– Tetsuya Nomura

In the meantime, Final Fantasy fans will be delighted in the months to come. Between Crisis Core Reunion this winter, Final Fantasy 16 in summer 2023 and FF7 Remake 2 next winter, the saga still has a bright future ahead of it.
