FIFA+: a new AVoD service dedicated to world football

Football rights being a little scattered, very few platforms had taken the risk of launching exclusively into the round ball. This missing link was finally fixed yesterday (April 12, 2022) by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) with a name in the era of time: FIFA +. On the program, live matches from national championships around the world from the end of the year, archives, great classics, documentaries… The institution has already announced the broadcast of more than 40,000 matches (29,000 men, 11,000 women), in 2022 alone.

Ronaldinho, captains and heroines

The platform works on the principle of AVoD, a very popular system which forces the user to view advertisements in exchange for free broadcasting. But according to variety, FIFA does not refrain from offering premium content justifying a paid subscription in the future. Among the sections of the site, the Match Center will be an opportunity for the most motivated fans to immerse themselves in “an ocean of statistics” concerning football and to participate in interactive games (vote, quiz, fantasy soccerprognosticator).

As for the original programs, you can now watch a 90-minute documentary on Ronaldinho, Captainsa series centered on six national team captains during the qualifications for the 2022 World Cup, or the docuseries Icons which features five of the most influential players in women’s football. The documentary Croatia: Defining a Nation describes the role of football in the history of the Croatian nation. Academies looks at club academies around the world (starting with Belgian team Anderlecht). More surprisingly, the documentary series HD Cutz is centered on Sheldon Edwards, a well-known hairdresser in the football world.
