Federal Council: Any mandatory seating and games without guest fans should be included in the new stadium security.
Whether it’s a football game or a hockey match: During the corona pandemic, the seats in the stadiums were limited, the tickets were personalized and the entrance controls were strict. Seating was compulsory at times and fans of the visiting team were not allowed at times.
The Federal Council envisages the sports world to be similar after the pandemic, so that games can be played without violence. In its report published on Wednesday, the state government came to the conclusion that there is no need for nationwide rules to protect against hooliganism.
Also implement stricter requirements
According to the Federal Council, the cantons would have enough instruments with the hooligan concordat, but they would have to apply them. These included stricter requirements for sports clubs based on the risk analysis of the upcoming game. The cantons should also do more to identify perpetrators and encourage dialogue between the police and fans.
In particular, the waiver of standing room in the fan curves or the restriction of fans of opposing teams is unlikely to meet with much approval.
Swiss Football League: Work in progress
The Swiss Football League referred to the ongoing work with the municipal and cantonal approval authorities. Any personalized tickets and other measures against violence in the context of football or hockey games are being discussed, as was announced at the beginning of June. But decisions are still pending.
