At around 1 p.m. the sirens wailed in Breitenwang. A caller raised the alarm. For reasons unknown, a forest fire broke out near the Frauenbrünnele chapel near Reutte. Suddenly, more fires started nearby. The Reutte, Breitenwang, Lechaschau and Höfen fire departments then tried to bring the fire under control for hours. “An area of around 30,000 square meters is affected,” reported emergency services, “since the terrain there is very impassable, extinguishing work is difficult.”
