The start-up which develops humanoid robots is completing a very large fundraising round. And its future seems bright given the names of the participants!

In the development of humanoid robots, there are strong competitors. The first is obviously Tesla, which has already presented the second generation of its Optimus. The other big thing we’ve been hearing about recently is Figure AI, a start-up which announced last January its desire to raise an envelope of 500 million dollars. An ambitious objective, which is nevertheless largely exceeded!

A fundraising of 675 million euros

Figure AI’s management has reason to be happy. Its fundraising was a big success, as explained Bloomberg News, since it managed to raise 675 million dollars. This operation brings the pre-financing valuation of the start-up to nearly $2 billion.

As a reminder, the company, based in Sunnyvale (California), wants to bring into the world robots capable of carrying out difficult and multiple tasks, ranging from warehouse work to retail sales activities.

Many big names present

The other interesting news about this operation is the identity of the participants. Among these, we find:

  • Jeff Bezos’ investment company Explore Investments LLC, for $100 million;
  • Microsoft, for $95 million;
  • Nvidia, for $50 million;
  • a fund affiliated with Amazon, for $50 million;
  • OpenAI, for $5 million.

Other firms like Samsung, Intel, LG Innotek and ARK Venture are cited as having put money on the table.

During its first funding round, which took place in spring 2023, Figure AI managed to obtain a total of $70 million from its investors. The operation was then carried out by the investment company Parkway Venture Capital.
