Last year there were more company bankruptcies in Switzerland than ever before.
With 10,126 company bankruptcies, the threshold of 10,000 bankruptcies was exceeded for the first time in one year, said the creditors’ association Creditreform.
The number of private bankruptcies, on the other hand, fell slightly.
Last year, a wave of bankruptcies swept through Switzerland. According to Creditreform, there are 37 percent more bankruptcies than in the previous year.
The reasons for this vary: around two-thirds of bankruptcies were due to insolvency, i.e. when a company became insolvent. A third of the bankruptcies concerned deficiencies in the organisation.
number to be taken with caution
According to Creditreform, the figures can only be compared to a limited extent with the previous year. Because in the two Corona years 2020 and 2021, many bankruptcies of so-called “zombie companies”, which were already unavoidable at the time, were delayed by state support measures.
In December alone, the number of company bankruptcies rose by almost a third to 959 compared to the previous year.
