Filled with screens, the interior of the Audi Q6 e-tron is also an unprecedented auditory show

Audi takes us inside its next electric SUV by showing in a bit more detail what awaits us in the upcoming Q6 e-tron.

The interior of the Audi Q6 e-tron

Well, it is not yet on the occasion of the Munich 2023 show which opens its doors to the press this Monday, September 4 that we will discover on the Audi stand its future SUV, the Q6 e-tron. It is well exposed, but still camouflaged. And it’s been some time since the firm with the rings tells us about its model, which it had already presented to us with another more colorful camouflage.

However, Audi has decided to tell us a little more about the one that is designed to compete with the Tesla Model Y. In particular by projecting us inside its 100% electric SUV and lifting the veil on everything or part of its cabin. And guess what: it will have screens absolutely everywhere.

A unique digital experience

One behind the steering wheel for the instrumentation. Another in the center for infotainment. And one more facing the passenger to occupy him during long trips. No less than three screens have been integrated into the dashboard of this new Audi Q6 e-tron, which is more digital than ever at Audi.

Beyond the number of screens, it is their arrangement which is also unprecedented for the Ingolstadt firm, since the two screens which are mainly used by the driver are grouped under a single and same slab, which is also curved. This is reminiscent of BMW and its current iDrive system, or also Peugeot and its upcoming 3008.

The screen used for the instrumentation, facing the driver, still called Audi Virtual Cockpit, measures 11.9 inches, while the one that sits in the center dedicated to infotainment with the MMI system displays a dimension of 14.5 inches. .

Both are OELD technology, and are grouped under a 26.4-inch panel. The third screen, still OLED, measures 10.9 inches. We can still regret that it is not better integrated visually, the reference still remaining the EQS which brings together the three screens under a single slab, the famous Hyperscreen of 55 inches (141 cm).

The digital experience of this future Q6 e-tron would not be complete without the head-up display which is also in front of the driver, whose perspective has been worked to display the main information as if they were between 9 and 13 meters in front of the car. And even up to 200 meters to be able to project his gaze even further.

A sound and light show

Another big novelty in this Audi Q6 e-tron, the sound experience. The brand with the rings has once again teamed up with Bang & Olufsen to offer a 3D audio system. In total, no less than 22 loudspeakers arranged throughout the cabin, even in the seats and even the headrests.

This auditory experience is complemented by a light show, thanks to a thin strip of light that runs across the entire width of the dashboard, and even on the door buttresses. A light that responds to the different functions of the car through different kinematics and effects. Whether it visually materializes the charging level or the turn signal, it fully participates in the experience offered by this Q6 e-tron.

See you in early 2024

Highly anticipated, this Audi Q6 e-tron will obviously offer these different technologies through option packs that will increase the bill.

As a reminder, the Audi Q6 e-tron will be the first vehicle based on the new PPE platform, shared within the Volkswagen group with its cousin Porsche Macan. Audi still keeps the suspense on everything related to the engine, therefore to the power and autonomy of the model, but we already know that the platform makes it possible to offer NMC batteries (Nickel – Manganese – Cobalt) up to 100 kWh .

The 800 Volt architecture allows it to recharge at high speeds: up to 270 kW on this Q6 e-tron. Enough to recover up to 250 km in 10 minutes on the appropriate terminal.

As Audi obviously likes to spare its effects, it will still be necessary to wait a little to discover definitively all that this Audi Q6 e-tron has to offer. Well, not too much either, since the marketing has already been announced for February 2024.
