Full servers and long waiting times when logging in – Square Enix even had to stop selling Final Fantasy 14 due to the large rush. That should change this year, however, in January the biggest problem of the MMO should be addressed.

Final Fantasy 14 is getting new servers to accommodate player traffic
In the summer of 2021, a new hype about the MMO began Final Fantasy 14. The high rush led to long waiting times at login and crowded servers and culminated in the sale of the game being stopped, as otherwise the game would hardly have been possible. It is currently not possible to get started as a newcomer and there are queues even at peak times. The game director Naoki Yoshida now has his say in a blog post and announced that the server capacities will soon be expanded. (Source: Square Enix).
FF 14 available again from January 25th
At the January 25, 2022 Final Fantasy 14 is set to return to digital sales. However, this is not really a solution for players from Germany. The server capacities will be increased by the opening of a new data center, but this one will in the Oceania region happen. Although you can make a free character transfer to this region, it is not possible to switch servers to worlds in Europe, North America or Japan.
Expansion of server capacities
Standing in Europe, North America and Japan Expansion and opening of new data centers and thus new worlds only in the summer. This is happening in all regions in two phases. In Germany, in July 2022 first expanded the two existing data centers from six to eight worlds. A third data center is then in Summer 2023 planned, which will also be home to eight worlds. Square Enix already has plans for a fourth expansion, with future add-ons in mind.
So there will only be a lot of space for new MMO fans in Final Fantasy 14 from the summer, but the timely opening of the new data center in Oceania and the possible character transfers could relieve the other regions, depending on how big the “migration of peoples” turns out to be. Should the situation on the overcrowded servers not improve, Square Enix reserves the right to stop the sale again.
