  • Users on Reddit and Twitter report overheating issues and crashes.
  • Not all players report these issues.
  • Possible factors could be summer heat, console placement, or dust.

Final Fantasy 16 was released almost a month ago and some players are reporting the first PS5 crashes.

Players have reported overheating issues on the Reddit and Twitter platforms. The Reddit post points out that the PS5 crash occurs during the in-game cutscene “Knight of the Lasting Dark” when playing in graphics mode.

Climate, position and dust are decisive

However, not all players experience the problems. A Reddit user noted that external factors such as climate, position of the PS5 or dust can also trigger it. Other users conclude from the problems with the console that the cutscene is potentially causing problems.

Given this information, some preventive measures could help minimize overheating problems. This includes not placing the PS5 in direct sunlight, choosing a cool location and preventing heat build-up by using a well-ventilated place.

It remains to be seen whether Square Enix steps in and provides a solution. If you’re still interested in other new games, check out our gaming release list for more information.
