What is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth?

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the direct continuation of Final Fantasy VII Remake, the first episode out of three dedicated to the remake of the original episode, released almost 30 years ago. This second part picks up where the first opus left off, at the gates of the city of Midgar. The slums of the cyberpunk city give way to much larger and more open spaces, with more exploration and freedom. The opportunity for the Square-Enix teams to exploit the power of the console, in superb settings that will certainly strike the chords of nostalgia.

Graphically, the game is incredibly beautiful, and the power of the PlayStation 5 is a credit to the game’s artistic direction. Rebirth, it is also and finally the arrival of cult characters, absent from the first episode for script reasons. As with the dream team of the episode Remake, their personality has fleshed out considerably, with much fairer writing. Their arrival also brings a new dynamic to the fights. It’s a shame, however, that not all of them are playable yet.

Is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth worth it at this price?

Less than €60, it’s an excellent price for one of the best JRPGs of the start of the year. Those who had the chance to play the original game will be filled with thrills listening to the fabulous reorchestration of the music. The players who discovered the title with the episode Remake will finally be able to discover some of the cult passages of the original game.

In terms of gameplay, the fluidity of the game allows you to enjoy the depth of the combat. These are neither boring nor seem forced, but can sometimes be punishing. The difficulty at times poorly balanced can indeed prove frustrating in some boss fights, but nothing that spoils the party. Note that the game fits on two discs and weighs approximately 150 GB.
