Final Fantasy XVI announces a move with another playable character

This time, it was during an interview with the Japanese media Game Watch that we learned that Clive, the main character already widely highlighted in the various trailers of the game, would not strictly speaking be the only playable character. Kazutoyo Maehiro, artistic director of Final Fantasy XVI, thus specified that the game would include an introduction where the player will take control of another protagonist, in the manner of what Final Fantasy XII had been able to offer with Reks.

By the way, Naoki Yoshida himself clarified, in the face of questions from players, that Clive would indeed be accompanied by different companions during most of his journey – companions who will be managed by the game’s artificial intelligence.

The director also split a new comparison to make the public better understand the role of the Eikons (or Primordials), the invocations of Final Fantasy XVI, which will give rise to titanic confrontations. Yoshida thus sees them somewhat as Gundams, in the sense that their potential can only be revealed and mastered by sufficiently powerful individuals (the Emissaries) and that their power will depend precisely on the mental strength of the latter.
