Final Fantasy XVI: Finally, Clive will not be quite the only playable character

Things are finally starting to take shape around Final Fantasy XVI. Since the release of the latest trailer for the next game of Square-Enix, Naoki Yoshida and his colleagues participate in a plethora of media interviews in order to reveal some details about this episode, without saying too much. The development team for a time ruled that Clive would be the only playable character in the game, but during a new interview with Game Watch the opposite was hinted at.

A brief passage in the skin of another?

During this exchange, the creative director of the game, Kazutoyo Maehiromentions that somewhere in the first hours of the game, it will be possible for us to take control of a character other than Clive, without specifying which one.

When asked if this could be similar to the case of Reks in Final Fantasy XII, which we check briefly, he answers in the affirmative. The bets on this mysterious character are launched, and on our side, we will put a coin on Joshua, Clive’s brother.

However, for the rest of the game, Clive will be the protagonist and the only playable character. Naoki Yoshida confirms that our hero will spend the majority of his journey accompanied by other characterswhich will be controlled by the AI.

Final Fantasy XVI will arrive on PlayStation 5 sometime in summer 2023.
