Final Fantasy XVI: the producer acts as if a PC version does not exist

Final Fantasy XVI is already shaping up to be the must-have video game of summer 2023. the RPG of Square-Enix is officially expected exclusively on PlayStation 5but there are still big doubts about a port on other platforms, especially on computers.

It must be said that at the end of the trailer formalizing FFXVI, a card specified that the title would be a console exclusive on PS5 and that it would also be available on PC. That was on the live presentation, but the video posted on Youtube later didn’t mention the computer port anymore. More recently, at Game Awards 2022the trailer ended with the message “not available on other platforms until December 31, 2023”ensuring at least six months of exclusivity on PlayStation 5.

According to Microsofta port of Final Fantasy XVI on Xbox Series X | S is impossible, but on PC, it is still much more possible. I have to say that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has arrived on computersfirst on theEpic Games Store then on Steamalmost two years after its launch on PlayStation 4.

But here it is producer Naoki Yoshida has fun making statements live that tickle PC gamers a bit. During a game of mahjong to talk about FFXIV, MMORPGs on which he is also working, he responded to Internet users asking for information on a computer port of Final Fantasy XVIfeigning its possible existence:

No one has said anything about a PC release. Why are you pretending a PC version is going to come out six months later? Don’t worry about that, buy a PS5!

Sorry, I got carried away. We have done our best so look forward to the game.

Well, considering the points mentioned above, it is clear that Naoki Yoshida probably should not have raised the question, a port of Final Fantasy XVI seems obvious, but not until at least 2024, which would leave a full six-month PS5 exclusivity. Anyway, the producer is also required to keep some secrets, sony probably dropped a big check so that the RPG of Square-Enix be temporarily exclusive to their home console, no way to announce a PC port before the initial release. This will be done as a reminder on June 22, 2023, you can pre-order FFXVI at €79.99 through Amazonon PlayStation 5 of course.
