Final Fantasy XVI: The release date will be revealed this year, and 40 hours to complete the game?

When Naoki Yoshida stated that the development of Final Fantasy XVI was coming to an end, it obviously had to be taken at its word. Following the publication of the latest trailer for the game, which focused on the presentation of the various kingdoms that we will cross alongside Clive, the producer had said that several interviews were going to be released in the weeks to come in order to to know a little more about the game. Here, we will especially remember the one from Famitsuwhich dwells on the release date of the game.

The Game Awards release date?

This exchange with Famitsu is rather massive, but what should especially stand out is the information that tells us that the development of Final Fantasy XVI is now 95% completeaccording to the game director’s own admission, hiroshi takai. All that remains is the phase of finding and removing all the bugs.

We know that the title is scheduled to be released sometime in the summer of 2023, but no specific date has been announced yet. Yoshida however states that the release date of the game will be announced before the end of this year..

Inevitably, we imagine that the Game Awards would be the perfect time to reveal such information, given that this is the last major (and global) event of the year concerning the industry, unless of course that a PlayStation Showcase surprises us from this month of November.

What is the lifespan of Final Fantasy XVI?

In another interview, which we owe to the Italian site Everyeye, Takai also gives us some information about the game’s lifespan. It indicates that Final Fantasy XVI could have a lifespan of around 35-40 hours :

By dedicating yourself solely to the story, you will be able to finish the game in around 35-40 hours. The question [posée par le site] mentions the endgame part, but the truth is that during the campaign there will already be a lot of optional content to explore in the first game. You can experience most of this content without having to complete Final Fantasy XVI first. At the moment we don’t have a precise estimate, but by completing the various secondary contents, the overall lifespan should reach around 70 hours. »

Which is therefore necessarily shorter than some episodes, without being the most expeditious episode of the saga. And if we have 35 or 40 successful hours, we imagine that the community will already be delighted.

Final Fantasy XVI will arrive on PlayStation 5 sometime in summer 2023.
