Finally a date for Ahsoka Tano! When will the new Star Wars series air on Disney+?

The new Star Wars series which will follow the adventures of the ancient Jedi “Ahsoka Tano” will be broadcast on Disney+ from August 23rd!

We already knew that it would be launched next August, but the Ahsoka Tano series finally has an official release date on Disney+. The platform will indeed unveil its brand new Star Wars production on August 23, with one episode per week.

Both a spin-off from The Mandalorian and a sequel to the animated series The Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano features Anakin Skywalker’s former padawan, now retired from the Jedi Order. Played by Rosario Dawson, the latter embarks on this new adventure in the footsteps of Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), the hero of the cartoon Star Wars: Rebels.

The series will also see the reappearance of other iconic Rebels characters, such as Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), not to mention Grand Admiral Thrawn played by Lars Mikkelsen. Also note the presence of the late Ray Stevenson in the casting of the program.

Star Wars: Ahsoka will take place in The Mandalorian continuity, but it has already been confirmed that some episodes will return to the past through flashbacks. Thus, we know that Hayden Christensen will appear for one or a few scenes in the role of Anakin Skywalker (via digital rejuvenation techniques, like his cameo in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series).

All eight episodes of the series were written by Dave Filoni, considered by many fans to be the rightful heir of George Lucas. The creator of Star Wars had also visited his padawan during the filming of the first season of The Mandalorian, in order to assist him in his very first experience as a director in live action.

The eight episodes of the Star Wars: Ahsoka series can be found from August 23, exclusively on Disney+.
