Competition for NVIDIA in the segment of graphics cards mid-range? AMD is finally preparing its weapons.

Expected since the first announcements around RDNA3, the mid-range cards were completely squeezed by AMD, which preferred to launch the RX 7600 and even pull an RX 7900GRE out of its hat.

The third quarter in sight

For a few weeks now, the RX 7700XT and RX 7800XT file has thickened and the question of the third quarter keeps coming back. On the occasion of the publication of its results, AMD spoke about the future to present its ambitions. What emerges is an interesting comment from Lisa Su, the president of the group.

In gaming graphics, we expanded our Radeon 7000 GPU series in the second quarter with the launch of our mainstream RX 7600 cards for 1080p gaming. We are on track to further expand our RDNA 3 GPU offerings with the launch of new, enthusiast-class Radeon 7000 series cards in the third quarter “.

Words that can be translated as follows: In gaming graphics cards, we expanded the Radeon 7000 GPU lineup in Q2 with the launch of the RX 7600 consumer cards intended for 1080p gaming. We are on track to further expand our RDNA3 offering with new Radeon 7000 cards for enthusiasts in Q3 “.

Presentation in August, at Gamescom 2023?

In its communication, AMD considers the Radeon RX 7900GRE, 7900XT and 7900XTX graphics cards to be designed for the ” ultra-enthusiast “. In the AMD hierarchy, gamers fans » are therefore a notch below: perfect target for possible 7700XT and 7800XT.

We will obviously not know more from AMD, but this is the first time that an official from the group has indicated so precisely a launch window for the continuation of the RDNA3 range. The evocation of the third quarter also lends credence to the latest rumors which had already mentioned this launch window.

Said rumors spoke of a presentation of the new 7700XT and 7800XT cards at Gamescom in Cologne, the German video game fair which will take place from August 23 to 27. A press conference to announce the two cards and a launch, in stride, in September is therefore more than possible.
