finally great news for MCU fans

For a long time somewhat neglected, Marvel’s flagship X-Men franchise returns with a bang to the forefront after the success of its latest series.

X-Men 97′ is in fact now the MCU production most praised by critics and the public, despite a plethora of other contenders. As such, Marvel plans to ride this triumphant revival with another project relating to Charles Xavier’s mutants.

Marvel reconciles with the X-Men

In the 90s, the first X-Men films notably starring Hugh Jackman in the role of Wolverine (who will make an extremely anticipated return in Deadpool 3) were real hits for Fox. On the small screen, Charles Xavier’s students also had their little success. But repeated productions on this franchise so dear to the heart of the American giant have gradually dulled the interest of fans. Dark Pheonix, released in 2019, was the latest film with a particularly cold reception.

This changed radically when the animated series X-Men 97′ landed on Disney+ on March 20. Created by Beau de Mayo, who has unfortunately since been fired, it recorded among the best scores overall within the avalanche of MCU productions. This of course did not fall on deaf ears. Marvel intends to take advantage of this renewed interest and is now giving its blessing for a live-action film centered on the X-Men.

This one would still be in an early state, but would have found its screenwriter. Michael Lesslie, who previously filled this role for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, is reportedly in negotiations to fill this position on the next X-Men film. For the record, this project was one of the first to be considered by Marvel when the writers’ strike ended. There was no question of hurry then, but things changed radically following the enormous success of X-Men 97′. We should therefore soon see Charles Xavier, Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Tornado and the whole company facing the forces of Magneto in live-action at the cinema, in the more or less near future.
