This moving historical drama has just joined the Netflix catalog and is already in the top views of the platform, and for good reason subscribers were moved to tears.

This film joined the Netflix catalog a few days ago and it is already number 2 in the platform’s top views. Adapted from a children’s novel by Irish writer John Boyne, this British-American feature film was released in 2008.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by AlloCiné spectators, this moving historical drama, directed by Mark Herman, plunges us into the horror of the Second World War through the eyes of two little boys who are completely opposed but who will bond of friendship in a tragic context.

This film is called The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and it shocked the subscribers of the platform who discovered or rewatched this grueling feature film. We follow the daily life of Bruno, aged 9, who lives with his parents near the Auschwitz concentration camp of which his father, a Nazi officer, is in command.

The little boy who does not understand the horror unfolding before his eyes observes the men, women and children imprisoned and tortured whom they see dressed in “striped pajamas”. No one explains the situation to him and Bruno, with all the innocence of a child his age, will become friends with Shmuel, a Jewish child, despite the barbed wire fence that separates them.

But their fragile friendship will be put to the test, faced with the terrible reality of the Shoah, and their lives will take turns that are as unpredictable as they are tragic.

Since the film was put online, subscribers and Internet users have not failed to share their emotion on social networks, thanking Netflix for adding The Boy in the Striped Pajamas in their catalog and expressing their sadness at this moving feature film, which has only been released on DVD in France.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is notably worn by Vera Farmiga (Conjuring), David Thewlis (Harry Potter), Rupert Friend (Homeland) and Jack Scanlon but he especially revealed the young Asa Butterfield, who we will find later in: Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, Miss Peregrine and Peculiar Children, Hugo Cabret and the Sex Education series.

You should know that the arrival of the film in streaming was eagerly awaited since it was already causing a lot of talk on TikTok with clips and videos making millions of views, by Internet users from all over the world evoking the feature film as one of the most moving. But French Internet users did not yet have the opportunity to discover it or see it again. It’s now done, with a good pack of tissues.
