We haven’t seen or heard about it for years and now the license is present absolutely everywhere. Silent Hill finally returns from the dead after too long a period of radio silence. Several projects are currently in production, some have already been released, but there is still much to discover. Above all, it is the highly anticipated Silent Hill 2 Remake which is seriously starting to drag on. The guy has shown up several times but still hasn’t given a release date. Finally, so far since it’s good news, Konami is meeting us very soon.
Silent Hill meets us!
A few days before the launch of Summer Game Fest, a major summer period 100% dedicated to video games and announcements galore, Konami decided to play the outsider. The publisher is in fact meeting us on May 31 at 1 a.m. (French time) for a Transmission, an online event totally dedicated to Silent Hill.
Excellent news for fans who are just waiting for it as there is so much to discover and now that is the big question, what to expect? Konami announces that we will officially be entitled to news of its games in development, a preview of the next film and new merch. Okay for the last point, we’ll move on. Lovers of the franchise will certainly be over the moon, but what we’re especially waiting for is information on the release date of Silent Hill 2 Remake and a first trailer for the film Silent Hill by Christophe Gans which will also be very inspired by Silent Hill 2.
What to expect ? Where are we with all the projects in progress?
Because yes, as far as games are concerned, there are quite a few left to discover. Silent Hill 2 Remake, developed by Bloober Team, was once expected to be released this year but we still don’t know when it plans to be released. Maybe this time we will be entitled to a release date? The game is extremely anticipated even though it literally cooled the enthusiasm of many fans during its last presentation, which was already considered outdated and technically shoddy. We will see if efforts have been made since then, in any case, it is certain that Silent Hill 2 Remake will be there, it remains to be seen what it will announce to us.
Among the expected games, there is also the big, big one, Silent Hill f. The latter is a completely new episode and should kick off the anthill. Its “prologue” Silent Hill The Short Message was released recently in the form of a sort of demo playable for free. A little experience which caused a sensation and promises very good things for the future. As a result, this Silent Hill f is long overdue. A first visual would not be refused there either.
Same thing for Silent Hill Townfall currently in the hands of NoCode and Annapurna. The game is currently extremely mysterious. We don’t know much about him except that his first trailer was full of well-hidden secrets. Enough to arouse the curiosity of fans…
It’s a bit of a last chance for Konami
Regardless, Konami has no room for error. Silent Hill hasn’t had this much attention in many years and fans are chomping at the bit. The problem is that the little we have seen so far is not really very reassuring. The Silent Hill Ascension experience, an interactive series combining video games and TV series, was a dismal failure. If the work of BeHaviour and the production studios was undeniable, the experience was killed by an aberrant microtransaction policy and completely irrelevant game mechanics which simply nipped the project in the bud. Still, the atmosphere was there, and the horror too.
Finally on the other side, Silent Hill 2 Remake struggles to convince even before its release. If the first trailer was mouth-watering, the second, focused on action as a bonus, clearly did not have the same effect. If we are happy to find the atmosphere and the universe of the cult game, visually and technically, we are far from what we have the right to expect from a PS5 game. Exclusive too. We will wait before selling the bear’s skin, but for the moment there is nothing very fun to reassure early fans, and that is not how Konami will succeed in attracting fans. neophytes.
