Finding your old emails will be easier with Gmail on Android

Gmail on Android adds search filters in the folders and labels of your emails, to find them more easily. This makes it even easier to find the invoice for your coffee maker bought three years ago and which has just broken down.

We knew the search filters on Gmail on Android, added last September: good news, these filters are available more widely. You can now use them in email folders or under labels, which will help you find your old emails more quickly in Gmail.

Search filters arrive for folders and labels

This is 9to5Google who spotted this novelty on Google’s messaging application. When you go to an email folder, such as the default ones (sent, starred, spam, important, etc.) or your label folders, a carousel of filters appears just below the search bar. In fact, we find exactly the same filters as on the web version and in the search for emails on Android, namely ” Of », « To », « Attachment », « Date », « Unread », « Exclude calendar notifications “.

The label filter therefore now appears in the first position. If these filters bother you when you search through your emails, you can remove them by clicking on ” Hide filters “. However, the filters will reappear each time you change labels or folders.

A feature not (yet?) available on iOS but which is on the web

This novelty was deployed on Android in version 2022.05.01 dated May 16. However, as noted 9to5Google, no trace of her was found on the iOS app unfortunately. But filtered search in folders and labels with a carousel is available on the version desktop from Gmail. Only, the label filter does not appear first in the list of filters.

Gmail continues its updates over the months: in February we had the right to a new web interface, with the integration of other Google services. Gmail is also implementing new icons to better differentiate notifications or an option that avoids duplicate notifications on your smartphone and your PC.
