Fire alarm in Ellmau – caretaker suffered smoke poisoning in the fire


A fire broke out in the sauna technology room of a restaurant in Ellmau on Tuesday evening. The caretaker of the company put out the fire. He was taken to the hospital on suspicion of smoke poisoning.

At around 6.45 p.m. the sirens wailed in Ellmau. “The reason for the fire or the strong smoke development in the sauna technology room of the catering establishment was a defect in the distribution box,” the police said. The 52-year-old caretaker was able to put out the fire, but had to be taken to the hospital in Kufstein with suspected smoke poisoning. “There was material damage of an unprecedented amount,” explains the executive.

11-year-old raised the alarm in Innsbruck
Almost exactly an hour later, the Innsbruck professional fire brigade also had to go out to catch a fire. In an apartment in the Wilten district, an oil burner probably caught fire due to a technical defect. “When an 11-year-old resident came home, he noticed the beep of the smoke detector in the stairwell and a lot of smoke in the apartment and made an emergency call,” the police informed. The fire was then extinguished by the Innsbruck professional fire brigade. There was material damage of an unprecedented amount. People were not injured.
