Perfect cooperation between firefighters during a fire in a commercial business in the St. Pölten region late Thursday afternoon: Due to the water shortage on site, three fire departments from the area provided additional supplies. The fire was quickly brought under control thanks to the rapid response.

It was the third fire that the St. Pölten – St. Georgen fire department had been called to this week. This time, flames spread due to a fault in a machine that was located in the area of ​​the St. Georgen asphalt plant. Due to the prevailing water shortage on site, the St. Pölten-Stadt fire department, the St. Pölten-Spratzern volunteer fire department and the Wilhelmsburg-Stadt fire department were also alerted to ensure the necessary supply of extinguishing water. 300 meters to water connection As the fire department told the “Krone”, almost 300 meters of water hose would have had to be laid to get enough water to the fire site. The 12,000-litre tank of a St. Pölten-Stadt fire department vehicle was a great help here: the fire was brought under control relatively quickly and the operation was over after 45 minutes, according to a firefighter. Nevertheless, the operation was demanding: a total of three breathing apparatus teams and 8 vehicles with 38 fire department members were on site.
