Fire brigade on duty – fire next to the south-east tangent led to the closure

A fire in a waste disposal company near the A23 in Vienna-Donaustadt made it necessary to temporarily close the south-east bypass on Sunday afternoon. The fire brigade was deployed with 26 men and several vehicles.

The fire department was called around 4 p.m. A fire had started outside the waste disposal facility. The place of action, Gotramgasse, is right next to the A23 in Donaustadt. In the course of the fire, there was a lot of smoke, which is why it was decided to block the A23 in both directions in the area as a precaution, said Jürgen Figerl, spokesman for the Vienna fire brigade to krone.at. There are currently several vehicles, including a large tank fire engine and a water cannon, on site to contain the flames and extinguish the fire. However, Figerl assumed that the blocking of the A23 could be lifted again quickly.
