According to the Solothurn cantonal police, the fire alarm was triggered at 7:20 p.m. The Thüringenhaus retirement and nursing home in Solothurn’s old town near Riedholzplatz is affected. At least three buildings were affected, one of which was fully engulfed in fire.
More than 20 people have already had to be evacuated. One person was taken to the hospital to be checked, said the spokesman for the Solothurn cantonal police, Andreas Mock.
The nursing home consists of several buildings. One is in full fire, the attic of another is on fire.
The fire brigades of the city of Solothurn and Zuchwil are fighting the fire, reports the “Solothurner Zeitung”. Next to the fire building is the historic Riedholz Tower. The fire brigade is trying to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings.
