At the beginning of the week, a five-party alliance in Götzis overturned the fundamental decision with the Altach community on joint gravel mining in the “Sauwinkel”. Previously, the ÖVP mayors of the two communities had been accused of “black party book economy”. How it continues now is open.
No transparency, no communication, no reliable data and facts, no specific offer for the distribution of the proceeds. Instead, two ÖVP mayors, who, together with their party friend Franz Kopf, who is supposed to operate the dismantling, quietly sniff out what the project should look like. The list of allegations is long and therefore it is not surprising that the Greens, citizens’ movement, SPÖ, NEOS and FPÖ have used their majority in the Götzner municipal council and overturned the fundamental decision made in 2019 for a joint dismantling project for the communities of Götzis and Altach.
The Götzner local chief Christian Loacker was disappointed in an initial reaction, his Altach counterpart Giesinger sees the project in jeopardy.
