The Mozilla Foundation has just released the latest update to its Web browser

Firefox 96 introduces fewer new features than previous ones updates. However, the latest version of the browser brings its small batch of improvements, particularly in terms of audio quality for videoconferences.

What’s new for Firefox 96?

Firefox 96 is available for download on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Mozilla’s latest browser update brings significant improvements to noise reduction and automatic gain control, especially during video calls. The foundation says it has also improved echo cancellation to provide a better user experience. In the same perspective, Firefox 96 corrects the bugs degrading both the video on certain sites and the screen sharing resolution.

Another change, Mozilla has reduced the load on the main thread, which should make using the browser a little less tedious. In terms of cookies, Firefox 96 now applies the “Same-Site=lax” policy, which better defends users against CSRF attacks (Cross-Site Request Forgery), which consist in executing an HTTP request to victims to make them perform various actions without their knowledge.
