Mozilla has just released version 98.0 of its Navigator
Firefox. In this major version, it is the downloads that are affected by some improvements.

A few security vulnerabilities have also been closed in passing.

Better-designed downloads for Firefox

In version 98.0, Firefox wants to make downloads more convenient and less invasive for Internet users. First of all, the browser no longer asks what to do with each file by default. Specifically, unless you have set the opposite for one or more file types, you will no longer see a window prompting you to choose a third-party application or save to disk before downloading a file.

Next, users can now set a preference to always open files of similar types when right-clicking a downloaded item in the downloads panel. The latter will now be displayed automatically when launching a download.

As shown in the screenshot above, it is also possible from this panel to display the destination folder, to go to the download page, to copy the origin address of a download or even delete entries from this panel or from the history.
