And to continue this momentum, we are also announcing that pre-orders for Firewall Ultra start today, for a release on August 24, 2023!
Firewall Ultra takes advantage of the advanced virtual reality features of PS VR2 to provide you with a compelling and immersive first-person shooter experience. This includes eye tracking for brand-new features, such as avoiding the glare effect of a GSS when closing your eyes, the incredible haptic feedback of PlayStation VR2 Sense gamepads for more weapon handling realistic, helmet feedback on damage, night vision goggle activation and more.
Firewall Zero Hour players know that we keep improving a game after it’s released, and that’s why community feedback is so important to us. So we will look into adding new content such as weapons and mercenaries, maps, additional game modes and maybe even a manual reload function after release. Be sure to check out our operations schedule and subscription terms as we get closer to the game’s release date. In the meantime, we’re happy to reveal that you’ll have multiple ways to acquire unique variants of your weapons when you play Firewall Ultra for the very first time. These unique weapons* will come pre-equipped with fantastic accessories and an exclusive skin, and legendary versions will also have a distinct appearance.

We’ve also redesigned the game’s internal infrastructure: an immersive social lounge and a shooting range will be available in the lair between sessions, dedicated servers will minimize connection drops and a new player versus player (PvP) format in two winning sets will shorten your waiting time between two games. - What is Firewall Ultra?
Firewall Ultra is the next installment in the Firewall franchise, following Firewall Zero Hour, a 2018 PS VR shooter that was a hit. The main PvP game mode is called Contracts and pits two teams of four players against each other in close tactical combat in a two-game winning match across various maps.
In each game, the defending team must protect a computer containing a lot of classified information using gadgets and weapons, while the attacking team tries to bypass secure access points to hack into the computer. . Available tools include proximity mines capable of taking the enemy by surprise, door blockers to reinforce positions, and much more. Attackers must move carefully around the map and work as a team to decipher the intel before time runs out.
In Firewall Ultra, it is essential to pay attention to your surroundings at all times. A nighttime outdoor map, like the oil rig seen in the gameplay trailer, or the ramshackle recesses of an indoor map, like the offices, can be incredibly dark and dangerous. Thanks to the dynamic lighting and realistic shadow effects made possible by Unreal Engine 5, we can create moments of incredible tension and immersion in real time, with great visual fidelity.
Firewall Ultra will also have a brand-new player versus environment (PvE) game mode, which will allow you to play alone or with up to three other mercenaries against deadly enemy AI on the map of your choice. It’s a whole new way to play Firewall and we can’t wait to tell you more about it.
- Incredible first-person immersion
We’re leveraging eye tracking to improve Firewall Ultra’s gameplay in a number of ways. For example, closing your eyes allows you to avoid the blinding effect of a lamp. You can also close your non-dominant eye while aiming with a weapon to tighten sight and slightly gain accuracy. These are two natural reflexes that players adopt while playing and we want to reward those who fully immerse themselves in the experience.
With eye tracking, you’ll be able to quickly switch weapons without losing sight of the action, and rendering with foveation will ensure you always have a clear and sharp look at the world thanks to the 4K display. HDR** from PS VR2.
Wait until you experience the dynamic rendering of the lighting of the lamp attached to the barrel of your weapon in dark maps for the first time. You’ve never seen anything like it before.
Touch sensing and adaptive triggers take the immersion even further by allowing you to feel the resistance differences of each weapon in your hand. Pistol shooting becomes an entirely different experience from sniper rifle shooting, and there’s something visceral about the intense haptic feel of shotgun recoil. With PlayStation VR2 Sense gamepads, you can deftly wield a knife to perform silent kills, or show off in front of your friends. You can even make realistic hand signals to your teammates, which improves tactical realism and interactivity. PS VR2 Sense gamepads make the experience incredibly immersive.
We’re also harnessing the amazing capabilities of PlayStation 5 to make it easier to play with friends. If you see your friends playing Firewall Ultra, you can immediately join a free spot in their squad from the Game Base PS5 map. Loads are shortened to avoid downtime.

We wanted to reward our fans’ patience by revealing details about the pre-order and future available editions of Firewall Ultra.
You can choose between the Standard edition of Firewall Ultra at €39.99, which includes full access to the game, and the Digital Deluxe edition at €59.99. By pre-ordering Firewall Ultra before launch, you get access to one of our favorite legendary weapons: the Reaper X75. This is valid for the pre-order of the Standard or Digital Deluxe edition.
The Digital Deluxe Edition of Firewall Ultra includes access to the full game download, early unlock of four mercenaries (Fang, Meiko, Node, Skip), four mercenary outfits (for those unlocked), four weapon camouflages and the op pass (access to the full content of a future operation, date yet to be defined). Any pre-order allows you to receive the legendary weapon Reaper X75 in game.
Those who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition will receive the early unlock of four Mercenaries (Meiko, Skip, Fang, and Node, check out above) which includes their unique skills as well as alternate outfits. This edition also contains four weapon camouflages, which can be applied to in-game customizable weapons, and gives you access to the Firewall Ultra post-release Op*** Pass.
