BEIRUT (Reuters) – Lebanon has recorded its first case of cholera since 1993, the National News Agency, Lebanon’s official news agency, reported on Thursday.

The case was detected on October 5 in the rural region of Akkar, in the north of the country. The patient is receiving treatment and his condition is stable, says Ani.

The case is highly likely to be linked to the cholera outbreak in neighboring Syria, Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abiad told Reuters.
