First Christmas of Charles III: discover the most beautiful photos of the royal family gathered for the Christmas mass

For King Charles III’s first Christmas, the Royal Family of England gathered to celebrate him, taking a stroll along the way to meet the public who had come to welcome him.

  • Charles III celebrated his first Christmas as king, since the death of Queen Elizabeth II
  • Prince Louis was also there for the first time
  • Only Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children were missing

It was definitely not a typical Christmas, after the disappearance of Queen Elizabeth II and in full turmoil with the documentary of Harry and Meghan. But for the occasion, the royal family of England gathered around its king, Charles III, and all showed a relaxation of circumstance in order to spend the best possible moment.

An unprecedented Christmas for King Charles III and Prince Louis

For King Charles III, this December 25, 2022 marked his first Christmas celebration, including a first speech on television for the occasion. Prior to this, the Royal Family attended at the religious service in St Mary Magdalene’s Church in Sandringham and took a walk just before the banquet at Sandringham House. A real event across the Channel, after 70 years of celebrations by Queen Elizabeth II, as a member of Buckingham Palace explained to People magazine “It’s going to be difficult, because the Queen was all they knew, like the majority of Britons. The first year is the trickiest, because that’s when you notice all the things that become first times.” However, many family members made the trip, such as Princesses Béatrice and Eugénie with their families, the prince andrew or Zara Tindall and her husband. At 3 p.m., everyone was glued to their television sets to watch the first speech of King Charles III on the occasion of Christmas.

But it was also Prince Louis’ first outing, that we only saw so far on the balcony of Buckingham Palace or in smaller events. At 4, he participated in this celebration alongside his parents, Kate Middleton and Prince William, as well as Princess Charlotte and Prince George, and also met the public who came in large numbers to see the royal family between leaving the church and leaving for the family meal. A festive day despite the changes of landmarks, but also despite the notable absence of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Archie and Lilibeth.
