The first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest took place on Tuesday evening. These ten countries were selected for the final.

The 66th Eurovision Song Contest will take place this year at the PalaOlimpico in Turin. The first of two semi-finals was held there on Tuesday evening. 17 acts were on stage with their participant songs, ten qualified in the show moderated by Laura Pausini (47), Alessandro Cattelan (41) and Mika (38) for the final next Saturday (May 14).

Also in the final are Switzerland with Marius Bear and the song “Boys Do Cry”, Armenia with Rosa Linn and “Snap”, Iceland with Systur and “Með hækkandi sól”, Lithuania with Monika Liu and “Sentimentai”, Portugal with Maro and “Saudade, saudade”, Norway with Subwoolfer and “Give That Wolf A Banana”, Greece with Amanda Georgiadi Tenfjord and “Die Together”, Moldova with Zdob și Zdub & Fraţii Advahov and “Trenuleţul”, Netherlands with S10 and “De Diepte ” and Ukraine with the Kalush Orchestra and “Stefania”. Russia was excluded from the ESC after the start of the war in Ukraine.

Albania with Ronela and the song “Sekret”, Latvia with Citi Zēni and “Eat Your Salad”, Slovenia with LPS and “Disko”, Bulgaria with Intelligent Music Project and “Intention”, Croatia with Mia Dimšić and ” Guilty Pleasure”, Denmark with Reddi and “The Show”, Austria with LUM!X & Pia Maria and “Halo”.

Half of the points are awarded by juries from the participating countries, the other half is decided by televoting by the audience. Germany was not entitled to vote on Tuesday evening, there can only be voted on in the second semi-final on Thursday (May 12). The “Big Five”, consisting of Germany, France, Spain, Great Britain and hosts Italy, are seeded for the final apart from the semi-finals. They have the largest share of the budget of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). In the German preliminary round “Germany 12 Points” Malik Harris (24) prevailed with his song “Rockstars” at the beginning of March.
