First GP win for George Russell – ahead of Lewis Hamilton

After his success in the sprint race, the Briton, who started from pole position, leaves all his competitors behind in the Grand Prix as well. In the fight for second place in the World Championship standings, the excitement before the season finale in Abu Dhabi could hardly be greater.

For once, two-time world champion Max Verstappen, who has been established for four weeks, was unable to take part in the fight for victory. The 14-time winner of the season, who started from third on the grid, fell back almost to the end of the field after a collision with Hamilton on the sixth lap, and finished the race in sixth place.

In the battle for 2nd place in the World Championship standings, the tension could hardly be more suspenseful ahead of the season finale in Abu Dhabi next weekend. Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari and Sergio Perez in the Red Bull are tied with 290 points. Leclerc finished fourth on the Interlagos track, gaining six points over Perez. The Mexican finished the race in 7th place.

Thanks to the 9th place of the Finn Valtteri Bottas, there were also two championship points for Alfa Romeo. The Hinwil team thus defended its 6th place in the Constructors’ Championship and was even able to extend the lead over Aston Martin slightly with 55:50 points. The Chinese Zhou Guanyu in the second Alfa Romeo missed a countable result as 13th.
