The Max platform should have a good year in 2025 with season 2 of The Last of Us, a new spin-off of Game of Thrones and the return of a hit series.

Warner Bros Discovery is not relenting in its efforts to impose its Max platform in the very competitive SVOD landscape. Indeed, in a few years, Netflix has quickly caught up with the launch of other services such as Prime Video, Disney+ or Apple TV+ to name only the main ones. But the group still has striking power with an already established catalog of cult films, and also important licenses and universes to exploit.

A first look at the future of one of the best Max series

We don’t know if the Max video streaming platform will manage to take off. But subscribers have plenty to do, just because of access to the wonderful HBO series. A channel renowned for having released great classics of the small screen like The Sopranos, The Wire etc. For several weeks, The Penguin has been the new showcase of the service. A DC series that follows The Batman and which has received excellent reviews so far. And that’s a good point because apart from a few exceptions, the DC universe is in evil outside of comics.

Among the nice surprises, there is The Penguin, and before that, Max had Peacemaker. A TV show dedicated to one of the anti-heroes of The Suicide Squad. This series was warmly received, which offered it something sometimes difficult to obtain in the television world: a future. Season 2 of Peacemaker is on the way and will be available in the second half of 2025 on Max. Gunn has not given a precise release date at the moment, but it will be after the cinema release of his Superman.

To keep fans waiting to see Peacemaker on Max, the director posted an image on Threads to tease season 2 with the following caption. “Who could it be?” » commented the director without saying anything more. Internet users therefore began the treasure hunt and several names emerged. First, some went for the Native American superhero Apache Chief. But because of the white hair, other names were mentioned including those of the supervillain Snowflamean enemy of Peacemaker and Catwoman, or even Warlord. Who will be right?
