Originally, a series set in the Game of Thrones universe was supposed to be released years ago, but it never saw the light of day. Today, we finally know what it could have looked like.
We no longer need to present the Game of Thrones phenomenon which, in series, had a… painful end. We’re not going to go into details, but let’s say that it wasn’t unanimous. Never mind, a spin-off called “House of the Dragon”, still adapted from the books by George R. R. Martin, was set up. And the least we can say is that it was a great success. However, did you know that another series in this universe could have arrived on our screens? Well, know that she has just been talked about again.
This Game of Thrones spin-off resurfaces after all these years
Before getting to the heart of the matter, a little background is in order. Several years ago, HBO spent around $30 million to finance a Game of Thrones spinoff. Headlining, Naomi Watts, which is no small feat. Unfortunately, the ax fell, and the game was canceled. Okay, bad luck, but it was replaced by House of the Dragon. It is therefore, as they say, a blessing in disguise. The problem is that we would still have liked to see what it looked like. Good news, our wish was granted.
We were therefore treated to some images from this famous series called “Blood Moon”. This prequel was obviously supposed to tell us the story of a marriage between a Stark and a Casterly. The plot would take place at Casterly Rock, a place well known to Game of Thrones fans. For now, we can only see Naomi Watts in the outfit she should have worn in the series. At the same time, it was revealed by Flora Moody, makeup and hair designer. She explains to us that the filming of the pilot took place four years ago.
For some Game of Thrones fans, this is great news. We don’t always have the opportunity to get such glimpses of canceled projects. For others, it’s more complicated. Yes, we want to see more, our curiosity has been piqued. Don’t count on that, the Blood Moon construction site has been buried for good. But clearly it was necessary. According to Robert Greenblatt, former president of WarnerMedia, this did not live up to HBO’s ambitions. In that case, maybe it’s better that we got House of the Dragon instead.
