First interim report – Glowing Advent: Less alcohol drivers, more accidents

Christmas markets, Krampus parties, Christmas celebrations, etc. – in short: during the Advent season, alcohol is known to flow freely in many places! Of course, the police know that too, and they have been chasing drunkards on the move again this year and are still doing so. A few days before Christmas Eve, a first interim report is now available.

So far, 15,000 alcohol tests have been carried out on vehicle drivers throughout Tyrol this Advent. Pleasing: The number of alcohol offenses has so far been significantly lower than in the year 2019 before the pandemic. In addition, the number of drug drivers caught has almost quadrupled! So far this year, 42 drug traffickers have been caught and reported during the Advent season. In 2019 there were twelve in the same period. The number of alcohol-related accidents has also risen compared to 2019 (increase from 12 to 16) for alcohol-related accidents involving personal injury. The accident investigators sometimes had more than one per mille intus, in one case it was even almost two per mille. Most alcohol-related accidents occurred in the Innsbruck-Land district with 5 accidents, followed by the Landeck, Reutte, Schwaz and Kufstein districts (2 each) and the Imst, Lienz and Innsbruck city districts (one accident each). that the accident risk already doubles at 0.5 per mil, 7 times at 1.0 per mil and 35 times at 2 per mil. The body breaks down only 0.1 per thousand per hour But even those who supposedly do “good” and leave the car at home should be careful and not rush into anything. As a rule, the body only breaks down around 0.1 per mille per hour. So it’s quite possible that you’ll still “have a good time” the morning after. The abandoned car should therefore not be picked up first thing in the morning, but rather only in the afternoon or evening. The Tyrolean police will also carry out strict checks around the turn of the year.
