First test drive – Skoda Enyaq: Electric giant elegant and cheap

In the case of Skoda SUVs, the names all end in Q for quarantine, this also applies to the Skoda Enyaq, the Czechs’ first all-electric car. But there are not many more negative associations to be found, because the counterpart to the VW ID.4 does a lot right. Some things are more correct than the Wolfsburg brother. What that is reveals “Krone” engine editor Stephan Schätzl here in the video driving report!

Like the Volkswagen models VW ID.4 and VW ID.3, the Skoda Enyaq is based on the Wolfsburg electrical architecture MEB, but it is the only one that is built outside of Germany, namely in the main plant in Mladá Boleslav.

In contrast to his VW brothers, you can’t tell that he’s a Stromer, the design is inconspicuous in the best sense of the word, but very successful. Only at the “radiator grille” did the designers run out of shame.

The Enyaq is 4.65 meters long and offers a lot of space in an interior that is as elegant as it is tidy. Operation is easy thanks to the 13-inch central touchscreen that comes standard with the Enyaq 60 iV and higher.

The battery is located in the bottom of the Enyaq, three sizes are available: 52 kilowatt hours, 58 and 77 kWh net capacity. They offer WLTP ranges between 350 and over 500 kilometers. The engine output ranges from 109 kW / 150 PS for the entry-level Enyaq 50 iV to 225 kW / 306 PS for the all-wheel drive Enyaq RS iV, which will not be available to order until the end of the year. In addition to the RS, the Enyaq 80x iV will have two motors and thus all-wheel drive, while the other models will have a rear motor driving the rear wheels.

Currently, only the models 60 iV with 132 kW / 180 PS and 80 iV with 150 kW / 204 PS are in the price list; they cost a good 40,000 and just under 46,500 euros. For the market launch on April 23, the entry-level model Enyaq 50 iV will also appear there, which is expected to cost a good 35,000 euros.

The first (early bird) copies will be delivered soon. Those who order now will probably have to wait for their car until the new year.
