First top place – Stadlober narrowly missed the podium in the skiathlon

Cross-country skiing ace Teresa Stadlober narrowly missed out on a podium place in Trondheim. The woman from Radstadt only missed the World Cup podium, where she last stood in January 2020, by just one and a half seconds.

Cross-country skier Teresa Stadlober achieved her first top place of the young season by finishing fourth in the only skiathlon of the winter in Trondheim, Norway. The Olympic bronze medalist missed her first World Cup podium place since January 2020 by just one and a half seconds in a group of five sprints on Saturday as part of the dress rehearsal for the 2025 World Cup. Swedish world champion Ebba Andersson secured victory after a solo run with a clear lead. Stadlober was already in fourth place in the classic technique after the first half of the race. Even after switching to skating skis, the 30-year-old remained in Andersson’s small field of pursuers. In the final sprint, the two-time season winner Jessie Diggins (USA) and Heidi Weng from Norway were a little faster than the Salzburg woman. The men then also competed in a skiathlon, followed on Sunday by the classic race over 10 km.
