Fisherman capsized – water rescuers in action: boats recovered in Lake Mondsee

The water rescue teams from Mondsee and Loibichl had to respond to two missions on Saturday. In the morning, a local fisherman (77) capsized. Then a storm came up – the water rescuers had to help a sailing boat.

At 7.44 a.m., the water rescue teams from Mondsee and Loibichl (both Upper Austria) were alerted by the police to a rescue. A fisherman’s boat capsized in the Loibichl area. The pensioner fell into the lake and was not wearing a life jacket. A nearby fisherman (66) from Salzburg heard his calls, came to the 77-year-old’s aid and brought him to the shore unharmed. The water rescue team brought the victim’s boat ashore shortly afterwards. Sailboat rescued during stormy journey Shortly after this operation at 9.30 a.m., Geosphere Austria activated the storm warning for the Flachgau lakes and Mondsee. The water rescuers set off on their stormy journey and discovered a sailboat that was no longer making any progress. The Loibichl water rescue team towed the boat to its home buoy. Although based in Upper Austria, the two local water rescue stations in Mondsee and Loibichl are assigned to the Salzburg regional association.
