Premium users (€8.99/month) will get a preview of these AI-based features. Access will be via Fitbit Labs, the creation of which was announced last year. It will be similar to Labs.Google, where users sign up to test features before rolling them out to the general public.
Yossi Matias, vice president of engineering and research at Google, provided details about this new feature in a blog post published on March 19.
Fitbit and Google Research are working together to build a broad language model for personal health that can power personalized health and wellness features in the Fitbit app, helping users get more information and recommendations from their Fitbit and Pixel devices.
Improve the general health and fitness of users
Fitbit smartwatches will be able to provide personalized coaching to users wanting to improve their health and overall fitness. The AI will access data from Google accounts and the Mountain View firm’s devices. The AI will analyze your sleep patterns, quality and variations, and offer workout recommendations based on this information.
The Gemini-based AI was trained on anonymized health data from studies and research. This information was obtained through a partnership with accredited coaches and wellness experts.
