“Five bricks! You call that expensive?” : the ex-craftsman of Nathalie Baye and Johnny Hallyday swings

In the 1980s, Nathalie Baye and Johnny Hallyday bought a family home in Creuse. On the spot, the idol of the young people wanted to do work … particularly expensive.

For Johnny Hallyday, nothing was too good. Especially when it came to spoiling his family. In the 1980s, the singer, then in a relationship with Nathalie Baye, fell in love with a vast residence in Creuse. This is where the singer, the actress and their daughter, Laura Smet, spent many days, far from the bustle of Paris. And if this house has long been perfect, the idol of young people wanted to change its composition as entrusted to its former craftsman in the columns of La Montagne. “He came to ask me for an extension. There were three bedrooms, three more were needed, he remembered. Another time, it was Nathalie who wanted a large open fireplace, to look rustic.” At the time, this professional wanted to warn Johnny Hallyday. “It was technically complicated and expensive, around 50,000 francs”he added.

But this crazy sum did not scare Johnny Hallyday at all. On the contrary. “Johnny called out to me, ‘Five bricks! You call that expensive?'”, told the craftsman to our colleagues. After their separation, it was Nathalie Baye who kept this house. But the actress was forced to part with it in 2017 for the modest sum of 600,000 euros. “It left in two weeks at a totally unreal price compared to the market. These are South Africans who bought, but never came. They wanted to resell a few years ago at the price of their purchase, so they don’t have never been able to find a taker”confided a member of the Marcon Immobilier agency behind this transaction in the columns of La Montagne. Except that the new owners of the cozy nest of Nathalie Baye and Johnny Hallyday are hardly present.

Nathalie Baye: “The weight of memories was perhaps too heavy”

For more than five years, this house has been abandoned according to our colleagues. “It’s a shame to see in the state it’s here, a neighbor told the local newspaper. The last time Nathalie came, she was crying. If she regrets having sold? I do not know. But since then, she’s always written to me for the holidays… except this year.” A real drama for Nathalie Baye. It must be said that between its walls, the actress had memories dear to her heart. “The house was a paradise on earth. The weight of the memories was perhaps too much for me to bear, she confided, moreover, after having sold this house reluctantly. When I visit my friends in the Creuse, I can’t help but go back to see my house.”
