five ideas for spending a night in a refuge

MORNING LIST

Gateway to pathways and hikes or resorts, mountain huts are usually located in beautiful locations. On the way for a night at the top!

At the Packe refuge, picks and trout fishing

Its shape is very characteristic of the region, a sort of stone warhead, adopted during the first wave of construction of Pyrenean refuges. Built in 1896, at an altitude of 2,509 m, the Packe refuge is the gateway to the long peak of the Turon de Néouvielle, the peak of Coume de l’ours, the peak of the Three Advisers and more generally the massif of Neouvielle. But above all, from the Col de Rabiet on which it is built, it offers a sumptuous view of the very famous Roland Breccia on one side, and the Pic du Midi de Bigorre on the other. From the Lienz camp, located above Barèges, it takes 3 hours and 30 minutes to reach it. For fishing enthusiasts, the surrounding lakes are full of game and the trout or char that comes out of them, particularly tasty.

At the Col du Palet, chamois and vultures

The Col du Palet refuge, located in the town of Peisey-Nancroix (Savoie), offers a privileged view over three valleys.

This alpine refuge is magnificently placed, at 2,587 m, overlooking an altitude lake at the intersection of three valleys: those of Tignes, Champagny and Peisey-Nancroix. From its threshold, you can admire the north face of the highest summit of the Vanoise: the Grande Casse (3,855 m) and, further on, the Grande Sassière (3,747 m) and Mont-Pourri (3,779 m). But it is for the observation of animals that it is most exceptional: ibex, chamois and bearded vultures are numerous in the Vanoise park, of which it is one of the most beautiful stages.

Refuge Col du Palet, the Vanoise, Phone. : 04-79-07-91-47 and 06-36-30-92-57. Open and guarded from mid-June to the end of September and from mid-February to the end of April. Three dormitories of fifteen places, duvets and blankets provided. Half-board (evening meal, overnight stay and breakfast) and picnic to take away.

At the Pointe percée-Gramusset, vertigo and light

It takes two hours of climbing to reach the Pointe Percée refuge (Haute-Savoie), with its all-stone landscapes and luminous sunsets.

An ideal refuge to satisfy all mountain lovers: families can reach it in two short hours, seasoned climbers can access famous routes from there (the Chombaz ridge or the crossing of the Greens ridge) and hikers can go to the top of the Pierced Point, the highest point in the chain (2,700 m). Because the Gramusset refuge (2,164 m) is at the foot of this summit, in the Aravis massif. The landscape is all stone and the sunsets are bright. Those who like the feeling of emptiness will be able to give themselves great emotions, the paths being quite airy.
