Five-year-old handcuffed by police after skipping school (video)

A five-year-old boy was taken to the police station and violently handcuffed after being found in the street by a police officer. The child was skipping school, and was treated like a criminal.

In the United States, a child as young as five was handcuffed and taken to the police station with inexplicable violence by an officer. His crime? The little one skipped school. An act certainly not very clever, but which in no way deserves such a severe punishment. A policewoman even demanded that the boy’s mother give him a physical correction so that he learned the lesson.

The video of the entire arrest issued by Loopsider on Twitter is pretty hard to watch. Between cries, tears and violence, we witness here scenes full of aggression.

Handcuffs for a five-year-old

Obviously, it goes without saying that a five-year-old does not have to be alone in the street in the middle of the day. In the comments of Loopsider’s post, some Internet users deplore the negligence of parents. But one can also wonder why the policeman is letting off steam on the little boy, who obviously does not understand what is happening to him. Indeed, the officer speaks to him with great aggressiveness and without any pedagogy. He literally yells at her and orders her to go back to school. The child, passive, does not react. It was then that the police force dragged him into his car and took him to the station.

At the station, the officer telephones the little one’s mother and holds the child on the chair in such a violent manner that the little boy, in tears, begins to scream. Once the mother of the little one arrives, a policewoman asks her to punish her son physically. The mom immediately retorts that she won’t slap her child because she doesn’t want to go to jail. The officer replies: “We don’t go to jail for punishing our child”. Remember that punishment is not equal to physical violence. The latter are effectively punished by law.

After this altercation of another dimension, the police officer who arrested the child puts him in handcuffs in front of his mother. He explains to her, always very aggressively, that handcuffs are made for people who don’t listen and who don’t know how to behave. The boy’s mother lodged a complaint with the police for her excessive unjustified violence against her son.

Even if playing truant is not good and we have to make children understand it, treating them with such aggression is absolutely useless, and is absolutely not justified. The problem certainly isn’t with a little boy who is only five years old. He is now strongly traumatized by the violence of what he has experienced.
