Flame for mineral ritual

Heir to a long history, Maison Trudon often looks to the past to draw inspiration from it. In search of new ideas for the containers (traditionally made of glass) of its scented candles, its creators went back very far in time to take an interest in alabaster. “a material that has always floated in our memory, loaded with a very long history and which has been used since the dawn of time as a decorative or ceremonial container, for religious rituals in ancient Egypt or ancient Greece”says Julien Pruvost, creative director.

Thanks to its translucent appearance, the flame of the candle will reveal the marbling and veining, while providing soft lighting. “We get our supplies from a Spanish quarry located on the other side of the Pyrenees, in Aragon, which specializes in lighting and which cuts, polishes and varnishes our glasses and lids. We chose it for its geographical proximity and for the beauty of the shades of white and beige of its stone. »

Divert the candle

The exploration of alabaster is also an opportunity for the candle maker to have fun imagining new scents. : “We wanted to weave subjective links between material and scent and have developed soft, milky fragrances that echo the cloudy appearance of this stone”, details Julien Pruvost. And this fall, Vesta, goddess of the home, joins the Atria and Hemera candles in the collection. The Alabasters.

Behind the choice of this material is also hidden a desire to optimize the life of the containers. If it is of course possible to recharge them, thanks to their cover and with only a discreet medallion as a label “Trudon” to give pride of place to the stone, the user is above all invited to divert them into storage boxes. “You can even turn them around and hide the medallion, proposes Julien Pruvost, and suggest that it is an ancient object. »
