Flames spread – balcony fire in Graz damaged three apartments

A fire on the balcony of a residential building caused a large-scale operation. One person had to be rescued from one of the apartments.

In the midday hours on Friday, the sirens wailed in Graz’s Feuerbachgasse. Several emergency calls and a fire alarm had reported a fire in a residential complex. When the fire brigade arrived, the flames had already spread from a balcony to the facade and two adjacent apartments. However, the fire was quickly extinguished. Heavy smoke development One person had to be freed from an apartment and was taken to a hospital with suspected smoke inhalation. The fire brigade fought the heavy smoke in the residential building with high-performance fans. A total of 31 firefighters with seven vehicles were on duty. Nobody was injured, the residents of the three destroyed apartments were housed in replacement quarters.
