Flapgrip from "Die Höhle der Löwen": mobile phone holder in the BRIGITTE test

For selfies, for navigation in the car or as a media stand – the multifunctional mobile phone holder should combine the solutions for pretty much every application. But does it keep what it promises? We did the BRIGITTE check!

It's that time again – the most famous lions on German TV are moving into the arena again and fighting for the most lucrative deals from ambitious start-ups. But which idea really has the potential to make it big and elicit a full investment from the top entrepreneurs and who has unfortunately misjudged and has to leave "The Lions' Den" without a financial injection?

Two people who want to know are Philip Deml and Cem Dogan. The duo turned a need into a business that will soon make life easier for millions of people. But for that, the two first have to top entrepreneurs Judith Williams (48), Carsten Maschmeyer (60), Dagmar Wöhrl (65), Frank Thelen (44), Georg Kofler (62), Ralf Dümmel (53), Nils Glagau and – brand new – ex-Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg (35) will convince you of yourself and your product.

Flapgrip: The new wonder part in smartphone heaven?

Their idea: a multifunctional mobile phone holder! Sounds banal, but it shouldn't be. Most people spend more and more time on their smartphone. It is indispensable in private and in the job. It is not only an important means of communication, it is also organizational aid and entertainment in one. In order to be able to use the devices that are getting bigger and bigger, an additional holder is now indispensable. And this is where the two young entrepreneurs come into play.

they have the flapgrip and thus supposedly unites the solutions for every function. Whether shooting selfies, navigating in the car or watching videos in landscape format – the flapgrip should provide more convenience on the smartphone with just one "push". At just 7.99 euros, it is also an inexpensive alternative to many competing products.

, explain Philip Deml and Cem Dogan.

A real problem solver and thus a product entirely to the taste of Ralf Dümmel, who landed the first deal in "Die Höhle der Löwen" with the flapgrip. "Wow, what a performance! Philip and Cem simply convinced me from the first second," said the lion.

In the BRIGITTE-Check: We tested the flapgrip from "Die Höhle der Löwen"

The flapgrip is intended to make it easier to use XXL smartphones in the future.

But does the flapgrip keep what it promises? We tested the mobile phone holder.

Ann-Christin Gebhardt: "The idea sounds almost too good to be true – but at least in parts it delivers what it promises. The narrow silicone surface is super easy to apply to my mobile phone case and is absolutely bomb-proof. By pressing lightly on the upper end, it works flapgrip and is ready to use.

I first used the flapgrip for an extensive selfie session. That worked wonderfully, but I didn't quite have the hold that I would have liked. My fingers kept sliding back and forth on the holder, so that I occasionally used my second hand to secure it. However, the flapgrip could be set up perfectly in landscape or portrait format, which makes watching videos much more pleasant.

And the mobile phone holder also looks good. It is super simple and inconspicuous and therefore certainly a nice alternative for many who are not into the often motley products of the competition. "

Friederike Dejan: "Compared to other smartphone holders, the flapgrip feels really soft. No sharp edges, no risk of wear and tear. I think the holder is super practical for viewing series, because the mobile phone can be set up in landscape format and doesn't fall over either Smaller and, above all, lighter smartphones also hold good on the laptop – you have a really good view of incoming messages. However, I would be careful with larger models because I'm not sure whether the holder would be able to withstand the weight annoying when the smartphone lands on the laptop or the floor.

I find flapgrip a bit too flexible to hold the phone really securely in my hand. With a large smartphone, I would be a little more careful here and would hold it with both hands to be on the safe side. What I find particularly practical, however, is that the handle can be folded back in when you don't need it. That doesn't make the phone look so bulky. "
