Flash sales – The Canon Pixma GM4050 “5 star” printer at €229.99 (-28%)

The Pixma GM4050 is part of Canon’s MegaTank range. This is a monochrome multifunction inkjet printer that uses an ink tank, which allows it to offer a paltry cost per page.

Like the Pixma G6050 and other printers in the range, the GM4050 benefits from many qualities. Besides its paltry cost per page, it turns out to be a good all-purpose printer. However, we will regret a control panel which is a blemish considering its high price. The investment in a GM4050 can nevertheless be quickly amortized compared to a conventional inkjet and its healthier economic model should appeal to those who are using their umpteenth cartridge printer.

Strong points

  • Good print quality.
  • Exceptional cost per page (€0.003).
  • Large capacity paper cassette (250 sheets).

Weak points

  • Imposing size.
  • Low print speeds.
  • Rudimentary control panel.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude the prices of stores whose the VAT policy is not clear (so-called “gray” stores, typically in the case of imports from China).

Alternatively

The Epson Expression Premium XP-6105 is similar to the XP-6100 tested on The Digitals. This is a good all-around printer. Be careful, however, of its high cost per page. Large printers will be advised to opt for an ink tank model, such as the Epson EcoTank ET-3700.
