No upheaval for this second version of Marshall’s Emberton. If the manufacturer’s adventurous portable speaker inherits a few improvements which slightly enrich the user experience, it is still far from truly surpassing its predecessor… and rising to the podium of the very best portable speakers. To do this, it would have been necessary to refine its sound rendering by making it softer, more natural and more precise.
Strong points
- Rich, lively and punchy sound.
- Good power reserve.
- Very neat and robust design. Pleasant speaker to handle.
- Ease of use, complete controls, multipoint connection (two devices).
- Very generous battery life (around 22 hours).
Weak points
- Sound reproduction not very subtle and lacking in precision.
- Harnessing power limited by distortion.
- Application support welcome, but still too poor in functionality.
- No mini-jack input.
