o2 celebrates the new telecommunications law with the new flex contracts. You can conclude your new mobile phone contract without a term until May 31st – at no extra charge! The special feature: You can even choose a new cell phone at the tariff. We’ll tell you how it all works below.
If you regularly read my tariff checks on NextPit, you probably know my mobile phone contract: I signed it three years ago with the Pixel 3 XL. Due to missed notice periods, the acidic contract is still running! All the more annoying that o2 is currently offering its exciting new flex tariffs.
The new Flex tariffs at a glance
Cancels the contract period, at no extra charge
As you may have noticed, a few things will change with cell phone contracts from December 1st. Legally, there must now be the option that contracts can be terminated after one year. After the end of the contract period, contracts can only be renewed on a monthly basis. If you now switch to o2, you can secure yourself a 100 euro switch bonus apart from the flex contracts.
But what is special about the new flex contracts? You can – very flexibly – cancel it monthly, at no extra charge. The monthly costs are therefore identical to those of the contracts with a 24-month term.
This is how the new flex tariffs work at o2
This promotion with the new Flex tariffs runs until May 31, 2022. Compared to the old Flex tariffs without a term, you now save 5 euros per month. For the youngsters out there under the age of 29, o2 even waives an additional 10 euros per month. The maximum duration of the savings is limited to 24 months. So you can take advantage of the offer by May 2022 at the latest and in this case you would benefit from the cost reduction until May 2024.

A cool advantage of the O2 contracts: You can even order a new cell phone. As you probably know, the monthly costs for a new smartphone are added to the contract costs. If you cancel the Flex tariff at o2 and switch to a cheaper offer, then you only pay the mobile phone at o2 – and you are out of the contract. If I had taken advantage of this offer a few years ago, I would have really saved a lot of money!
The adjustments to o2 are so convincing that there was praise from consumer advocates. As Golem reports, the digital advisor at the consumer center, Susanne Blohm, praises the new offer from o2. It is a “good example of a consumer-friendly course on the market”. Because the elimination of the fees, which o2 is still offering until May, is not even required according to the new telecommunications law.
All further information and all contracts can be found on the promotion page at o2, which I have already linked to you above. Basically, however, all known CO2 tariffs can be selected with the flex option. There is therefore no reason to choose a long-term contract with o2 until May 2022! Only the switch bonus of 100 euros, which o2 currently gives you for contracts with a term of 24 months, does not apply to the flex contracts.
